I've known about Ol Shel's chili for a long time. Canned Chili is a lot like canned Mac and Cheese. It sucks.
I stumbled on the Shelby Chili kit today and I hope it works with my ingredients.
I'm not a Chef by any means so I'm open to any tips.

You going to go 289 or all out with the 427?

Two words, bro: slow simmer. Also let your meat thaw for a bit so it locks in the flavor before you cook it. Enjoy!

It's a pretty good recipe as is. And hard to screw up.

I've never made the Shelby Chili but I like to use sausage and ground beef in my chili. I use a tube of Medium Bob Evans sausage when i make it for my kids and use the Zesty Hot when no kids are around for the extra kick.

I like to throw in a little chipotle for a nice smokey flavor

I know of nothing less than burn. So 427 it is.

Never tried sausage in chili... hmmm. Thanks for the idea! Gotta try it with some spicy links.

I love it, adds a little excitement to meatloaf also.

Update.
The meat (including the last of my Venison) is slow cooking.
Whatever is in this box has my dog all kinds of riled up. He never tries taking stuff.

Try a bit of Chorizo. It works but too much can get really greasy.

Update 2..
I opened the box.
No wonder my dog wanted in.. It's full of..
Bloody Hell.
All of the same stuff I've been using for years except everything is in little labeled baggies.

So... this is a bad thing? I'm really curious to know if this is a good kit or not, I really think I might try cooking up some chili tomorrow.
Edit: I've never cooked chili in my life, except out of can (doesn't count!).

Update 3 and time to hit the rack.
Crock Pots take for ever.
This stuff is on Low and some of the meat is still ready to make a PETA member wish for a hot bath.

I've been buying Shelby's chili for years. Not liking my chili to be too awful spicy I go easy on the hot stuff (yeah I know, my man card has been revoked) and I don't use the mesa flour, but I do add some chunks of Velveeta (artificial cheese like substance) in its place. I like the flavor combo.
There's another called Six Gun Chili that I've used from time to time too. It is very similar to the Shelby mix.
